The brief

Northwind had eleven years of climate data and no way to make anyone feel it. The brief was to turn a research archive into something a policymaker would sit with for ten minutes instead of ten seconds.

Direction

We built the identity from isobars — the contour lines on a pressure map — and let them behave as a live system rather than a static mark. Every page renders its own field, seeded from the dataset it presents, so no two sections look alike and none of it is decorative.

Outcome

Average session duration went from forty seconds to just over six minutes. The archive, previously a PDF index, became the most visited part of the site within a month of launch.

“They didn’t redesign our website. They rebuilt the argument it was making.”
